Another bad night of WOW
Another bad night for WOW. My DPS keeps improving, but everyone else is increasing more. I am behind the curve, and will not catch up doing our regular raids. I need to do some work on my own, and really don’t have the time. I think I will have to put raiding on the back burner for a while.
The fact is I don’t really have time for much at all besides this site. I really need to get my Skaven army fixed and painted by June and I have not picked up a brush in weeks. I think I have the list I like but have to work on the actual models.
The thing I love about painting is I can just throw a whole season of a TV show on the DvD player and sort of not listen. I still enjoy it immensely, and find it really relaxing. I have been looking at Stargate SG1 again, but think I will switch it up for the Walking Dead. I wish the SG1 shirts did better, as think they are really cool, but they kind of languish in the tv t shirt section getting very little love. This Walking Dead t shirt is very cool.
Debating certain classic movie t shirts
I’m kind of conflicted about these classic “adult” movie t shirts I ordered. None of them have anything actually pornographic, but still some people could be offended. On the other hand, the cheesy kitsch value is huge. I think I will put them in the novelty t shirts section rather than movies. Still, it’s disconcerting. If any of you have an opinion let me know. I could always just bring them to conventions.
The shirts are all movie posters, and the three movies are Debbie Does Dallas, the Devil in Miss Jones, and the Italian Stallion (yes, with Sylvester Stallone pre-legitimate career). They are all hilarious.
It’s funny how the Puritan elements of our society creep into my mentality. I have no trouble telling everyone how much I think Superman sucks when compared to Batman (or any number of other comic book heroes. Growing up in Smallville with the Kents is NOT a tragic beginning) yet am worried about t shirts with PG images on from the adult industry. A hard core Superman fan could potentially be really offended and is more likely to be looking at my site than people who would be offended by these shirts.
I think I will put these up, but this is the limit. A lot of my vendors recommend some more “adult themed” shirts but really, I personally find them pretty childish (this from a guy who a few weeks ago posted a Care Bears t shirt and wrote an essay on it) and potentially very offensive. I don’t think I want to go in that direction. I am about nerds, and I don’t think that stuff fits in well.
Steam Punk is my new favorite aesthetic
I have been doing a lot of research for my site and keep looking up steam punk. I have always kind of liked steam punk, but since looking at all the great stuff out there. If I ever have the time and money to actually decorate my office I think I am going to go with a steam punk theme.
The reason steam punk rules is it is a vision of the future that isn’t the lame present we live in. Computers have cool valves and actual dials. Somehow cool machines do amazing things thanks to all the extra rings and flanges. It’ is technology presented as an aesthetic, not a function. The closest thing we get these days is some of the Apple stuff, but really even that stuff sucks. Is it really so necessary to make everything as minimalistic as possible? This is an example of one of the great novelty t shirts that I am finding out there and speaks volumes to me.
